Ace looked to her left a hair too late. The rough hand was already clenched around her wrist like a vise and pulling her into the alley. Another set of hands grabbed Rachel and did likewise. The groceries they had been carrying spilled out onto the sidewalk in meaningless colors, the cans thudding dully and the fresh fruit splattering like viscera. Ace felt vaguely nauseated.
